WHEN IAN GOT STUCK IN THE MOORS
An alternative title for this work could be “the horror hidden under the eyes of Ian”, taking into account that this slothy little man was a well-known murderer.
CONCEPT
This contrast, the seeming slothy little man vs the active murderer – a contemporary Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde- is where horror lies. And also: in the distorted face (drawn upside-down) and the drawing with the “cold” ballpoint pen.
The white hues of the facial flesh render the figure as an eerie spectre. However, the warm “picturesque” beige of the paper background tries to counterballance the mentioned horror, yet to the least avail: getting the opposite result, the “warmth” of the paper intensifies the pervert personality hidden behind Ian’s eyes.
